Shahnawaz Khan – Partner, Head of Advisory
commonly known as Shaz, is a highly experienced professional with over two decades of expertise in assurance, risk assurance, and advisory services. He has held significant leadership roles, including Head of Assurance and Head of Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) at Grant Thornton, and CEO of Baker Tilly in the Middle East. Shaz has worked with big four firms in the Uk and in middle east and been instrumental in establishing various global initiatives such as IFRS advisory, financial services excellence centers, and offshore centers. He has developed tailored solutions for insurers, banks, sovereign funds, and multinational clients, and has actively engaged with regulators and professional bodies, including ICAEW and AAOIFI.
His contributions extend to thought leadership, having organized numerous workshops, seminars, and knowledge sessions on emerging trends, regulations, and soft skills. In addition to his professional achievements, Shaz is actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He serves as a Council Member of ICAEW and is part of the Technical Working Group for AAOIFI. He has also held leadership roles in ICAI chapters and is an established poet with a significant social media following. Shaz has received several accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate from Theophany University and the CA Achiever Award from the World Human Rights Organisation. His expertise is widely recognized, and he has conducted numerous training sessions and webinars on topics such as IFRS, audit transformation, and finance transformation for various professional bodies, universities, and corporate houses across the globe.
Shaz’s career is marked by significant achievements, including the development of assurance and risk advisory practices that achieved double-digit growth. He has built a global network of consultants and advisors, leading cross-country assignments and implementing quality review processes. He founded Ballards Global, having previously served as CEO of Baker Tilly Oman and IFRS Partner. Shaz’s extensive geographic experience spans the UK, US. Middle east. Canada, Singapore, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. He is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, and holds professional qualifications from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
